Steph's Birthday Pressie

So I decided to make a present for my friend Steph, and as knitting seems to be my thing these days I went for a pair of slippers, they are knitted then felted its quite a interesting process they have to be knitted with 100% wool for it to work and they shrink a lot during felting.  I am always unsure about making things for other people I worry they wont like it, or it wont fit that they will just say they like it then dump it in the closest never to be seen again lol but I personally appreciate the effort put into a hand made gift much more than something bought in a store so here they are one felted one knitted so you can see just how much they change during the process.

Pumpkin Patch

This year on thanksgiving weekend we went to the McMillan pumpkin patch.  This is the first time I have ever been and I have never bought or eaten a pumpkin in my life so this year was gonna be the first.  Mya really enjoyed herself she went into the hay maze and the corn maze, we went on a hay ride to see the pumpkins in the fields and to see some cows and sheep. I got some cute photo's of both Mya and Jade and Mya picked out her very own baby pumpkin.  I got two medium sized pumpkins took them home and used canned pumpkin to make a pie and a cake lol. They where both yummy and I will be chopping up and cooking my pumpkins soon.

   
 

Michelle's Hat

So my latest knitting project is a hat I picked this pattern because I wanted to knit a hat for my friend Michelle and she has dreads so she needed a floppy kinda hat so it was nice and loose to fit all her hair in. :) I got this finished in about 2 weeks it took longer than I expected because its actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be but it turned out really well.  Now my plan is to go back and finish everything else I started lol I finished Jade's onesie but didn't sew on any buttons I made the sweater for Mya but didn't do the sleeves because it was too small so now I need to finish it for Jade.  I did the onesie last night so thats all finished and today I'm gonna start on the sleeves for the sweater after that I'm going back to socks for a while after finding a really cool way of knitting 2 socks at the same time on verypink.com Stacie does video's to go with the patterns and I have never seen video's this easy to follow before she is awesome and I can't wait to get started.

Rhino Romper

So my first big project, well at least my first big project that I didn't learn at knitting class the socks are pretty hard to do unless someone shows you :) I first started knitting at the end of 2010 because I couldn't find any nice sweater for Mya only cardigans, I did a couple of pairs of socks I've made a few hats but nothing even close to the sweaters I planned on making at the start.  So now with beautiful baby Jade to knit for too I thought I would start with a small project for her (little baby little project lol) and so I started the Rhino Romper http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rhino-romper  This is the link for the pattern from ravelry.com a awesome website (thanks Grace) and I think it turned out pretty well I started on Sep 1st and have been doing a hour or 2 on a night after the kids are in bed and this is how it looks I just need to add the buttons and its all done.  

Sweater

So I started a new project, using the same pattern as the little romper I made Jade I decided to make a sweater for Mya unfortunately I made the largest size in the pattern and its too small so now its sitting unfinished on my desk while I decide if I want to finish it and use it for Jade next year or frog it and start over again with a different pattern or try to increase this pattern on my own.  In the meantime I have found a really cool pattern for a hat that I want to try so maybe I will take a break from the sweaters and go back to the easy stuff lol except this pattern isn't that easy but we shall see.

Potty Training

Mya went poop on the potty yeah!!! For those who don't know Mya has refused point blank to use the potty if I let her run naked she will hold it in till nap/bed time when I put a diaper on her rather than use it. She isn't scared of it in fact she will sit on it for ages watching tv or reading a book just won't pee or poop in it for some reason and screams if I tell her to use it. Tonight she went all on her own and didn't even tell me she did anything lol maybe it's because when I tell her to go she knows I'm expecting something and she is scared to do something wrong, I don't know what or why tonight is different but I'm really proud of my little princess :)

Jade is on the move

That's right my little girl just turned 4 months and is already rolling front to back and back to front, surprised me completely with this early this morning I had just got her out of bed laid her on the floor for a minute while I got myself organized and within seconds of me laying her down over she went, was awesome can't believe she can do it, I guess that's what happens when you have a big sister running around and you want to run around too lol.
